Ambitious growth

It's an exciting time to join our firm.

Sustainable growth means a focus on strategic acquisitions as well as having the right people in the right roles across all our offices. As such, we're actively recruiting for solicitors across all roles, as well as paralegals, for our teams in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Inverness and Stirling.

If you'd like to be an integral part of that effort, why not get in touch with us for an informal chat.

Why work for Ledingham Chalmers?

International and national outlook — clients with influence

Our long-standing client relationships, along with our full-service model, have stood us in good stead for many years.

We support multinational and national companies, as well as high potential SMEs, and also work with public sector organisations and individuals. Our business clients operate across industries that drive the national economy including energy (oil and gas and renewables), commercial property, construction, agriculture, leisure and tourism, as well as insurance.

We have an international outlook, not least because of our involvement in the global energy sector for over 30 years. Plus, through our membership of Lawyers Associated Worldwide we help clients access strategic, straightforward support in nearly 200 jurisdictions.

[Ledingham Chalmers allows an experienced fee earner to] take control of their career at a place that has the highly skilled specialists to work with and continue to learn from while being involved in good quality/high value/interesting work. — Senior associate Graeme Myles

Next level career opportunities

Now we're taking our firm to the next level, which means there's never been a better time to come on board.

There are great opportunities for you to take control of your career: to exercise autonomy to progress and grow in an independent law firm where your contribution’s welcome and actively encouraged, often with first-hand experience of working on high profile, high calibre and complex matters: looking after and protecting our clients' interests.

Flexibility

We’ve adopted a hybrid working policy for those looking for more flexibility and offer bonuses (subject to qualifying conditions), as well as your birthday off on top of your holiday entitlement.

Supporting our communities

We're committed to supporting local communities.

Every year, our charitable trust gifts thousands of pounds to organisations that do so much for people across the country.

Plus, colleagues regularly volunteer, sharing their time, skills, and knowledge with a range of charities and non-profits.

Our core values

Our culture’s important to us.

We use our core values to guide how we work with clients, and each other —

  • Treat others well

  • Satisfy and impress our clients

  • Keep learning

  • Give something back

  • One team

These are the basis of each and every business decision.

Recognition of efforts throughout the pandemic

For example, and reflecting our core value to treat others well, we allocated a £150,000 COVID-19 pot shared among everyone Ledingham Chalmers employed on 31 March 2021 as a thank you for their efforts and commitment throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cost of living bonus

Plus, in October 2022 we announced a cost of living bonus which meant each member of staff employed on 10 October, 2022 — not serving notice — received a one-off payment of £1,200. This was part of a £400,000 pot for staff including discretionary bonuses and the performance related pay (PRP) scheme.
