In Edinburgh, where we specialise in public sector and insurance litigation and handle pan-Scotland cases, we’re looking for a solicitor to join our team.

This role would be suitable for hybrid working.

The role

This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing, ambitious firm. We act for a number of well known public sector institutions including several local authorities as well as major insurers.

The role involves —

  • Specialising in public sector and insurance litigation, handling cross-Scotland Court of Session, All Scotland Personal Injury Court and sheriff court cases

  • Managing a varied caseload comprising employer liability, public liability, occupier liability and motor claims

  • Handling litigated and pre-litigated cases

  • Taking statements and conducting liability investigations

  • Collaborating with medical experts, witnesses and counsel

  • Skilful drafting

  • Efficient file management, including compliance with precedents, letters or documents on the case management system

The ideal candidate

Working alongside experienced colleagues including accredited specialists and solicitor advocates, you'll be fully qualified with demonstrable experience in personal injury civil litigation.

You’ll be able to show you —

  • Take a client-focused approach with an ability to effectively manage internal and external relationships

  • Are organised and an accomplished problem solver

  • Are capable of managing complex and varied workloads efficiently, and completing them to a high standard

  • Have excellent negotiation skills

  • Are proficient in relevant software such as Microsoft Office
