And, if you're keen to pursue a career in litigation, this role will give you exposure a range of matters across this discipline including high value and complex litigation.

We act for a number of well-known public sector institutions including several local authorities as well as major insurers.

Work includes —

  • Liability and subrogation claims for major insurers, arising from property damage

  • Commercial litigation, primarily in the Court of Session

  • Public law claims

  • A range of personal injury and property damage work for insurers and claims handlers

  • Employment law matters

Our ideal candidate

Working alongside experienced colleagues, including accredited specialists and solicitor advocates, you'll be keen to gain advocacy experience and will have the opportunity to do so early on.

We have a strong track record of offering post-qualifying positions to trainees, and if you're considering a career as an advocate, this position may also be of interest.

You'll have an LLB or LLB (Hons) in Scots Law and PEAT1/DipLP before the traineeship start date this year.

Why Ledingham Chalmers?

We're ambitious, we share success, and we've built a reputation as a great place to work with an enviable culture. Take a look at our core values that guide how we work with our clients, and each other.

We recently announced our latest figures, showing increased profits for the 2020/2021 financial year. At the same time we revealed we'd be investing six-figures over the next 12 months as part of our growth strategy to double revenue to £25million by 2025.

Having the right team in place will, of course, be instrumental to reaching that goal.

As such, and reflecting colleagues' commitment throughout the pandemic as well as our core value to treat others well, we allocated a £150,000 COVID-19 pot which has been shared among everyone Ledingham Chalmers employed as at 31 March, 2021: a payment of £1,250 for someone working full-time hours.

We offer a friendly, supportive and collaborative environment; a city centre office; a competitive salary; as well as other benefits including bonuses, subject to qualifying conditions, and an additional day off on top of holiday entitlement for your birthday.
